Wakefield Wines St. Andrews 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon

Since 1892 St. Andrew´s Rerra Rossa over limestione soils have produced wines of rare excellence. The original winery remains a testament to the Clare Valley´s visionary pioneers.
Vinification was matured in new 50% American, 50% French oak hogsheads for 18 month. Bottles in January 1999 with minimal filtration and held in storage in ideal conditions. Colour: garnet with brick red hues. Nose:pine nuts, Nutmeg and spice initially. Sweet liquered cassis lift with complex characters of leather and forest floor earthiness. Taste: rich powerful flavours, supple tannins; medium to full bodied. herbal savoury finish - has a persistent length of flavour with pleasant drying astringency.
